Newsletter 7 2025
Dear Members of the St Andrews College Community,
Congratulations on the great work that has been visible both inside and outside of the classroom. All of the opportunities that we present at St Andrews College are intentional and focused on learning as learning opportunities. Thank you for the way that staff, students and families support the structures we have in place to make these opportunities meaningful and retain the purpose.
It’s All About Learning
Gospel Reflection:
The Mass readings for the 6th Sunday of Easter highlight the themes of the Holy Spirit’s guidance, God’s blessings upon us, the establishment of the Kingdom of God, and God’s faithfulness to His promises. The readings emphasize the role of the Holy Spirit in teaching and reminding us of Jesus’ teachings, the abundant blessings of God upon all nations, the vision of the new Jerusalem as a symbol of God’s glory, and Jesus’ assurance of sending the Holy Spirit to guide us in our journey of faith.
Debating Preliminary Rounds finish:
Congratulations on a very strong finish to the Debating season, which saw teams develop significantly. The main aim of Public Speaking and Debating, from my perspective, is to give as many students as possible an opportunity to develop their skills in a supportive environment. This season introduced a number of students to the competition, and I have enjoyed seeing them develop their skills and confidence as well as witnessing seasoned campaigners improve significantly. As a result, a number of teams are through to the finals, and we wish these teams the very best.
Thank you to Ms Douglas and the teachers/ex-student adjudicators and coaches for the many hours that go into the development and organisation of the teams.
Performing Arts Events:
I am very excited about the numerous performing arts events coming up in the near future. Unity Day rehearsals are developing well, the College Musical/Play have started auditions, the Year 12 HSC Music Showcase is scheduled, and the Junior Creative and Performing Arts Showcase is scheduled. So many opportunities to shine
