Subject Selection Interview - Initial Process
Term 2 Week 1 the Subject Selection Site for Year 11 2022 will be shared with students and parents. The site is introduced earlier than in previous years so students and parents can begin discussions.
It is imperative that students are attracted to subjects which they have skill in, interest in or maybe a prerequisite for a career area of interest.
It is important that students make the choices as they will need to be committed for two years to the HSC pattern of study they choose. In this time students will be challenged and need to demonstrate sustained effort and due diligence. If a student chooses subjects which are inappropriate for their ability or they do not have an interest in, they are setting themselves up for stress and potentially achieving less than desirable results.
In T2 Week 1 - Week 5 T4, students will receive an invitation to the initial subject selection interview in the Learning Centre at an indicated time in order to begin discussions about possible subjects they are interested in, in conjunction with their Year 9 and 10 school results across subjects. Rigorous subjects have parameters which students need to consider. If a student has not met the parameters to date, they will need to demonstrate subject entry requirements for the subject. Parameters ensure that students are set up for success in Stage 6.
Following the interview with the student, the parent and student will receive an email detailing the conversation and suggestion based on the student’s achievement at school so far.
More information about the subject selection evening will follow shortly as well as the parent/student subject interview following subject selections.
NAPLAN Practice Tests
Students in Years 7 and 9 completed NAPLAN practice tests in Week 9. The tests enabled the students to use the online tools so they gain confidence when they do the actual tests in May.
In preparation for the upcoming NAPLAN tests, students should aim to do their best in every subject in order to keep developing and practicing their literacy and numeracy skills.
God Bless everyone over Easter
