From the Leader of Wellbeing - Year 9
TWO MORE WEEKS TO GO!!
With two more weeks to go in Term 2, we should review our goals and see if we have achieved them or close to achieving them. It is important that we continue to strive for our personal bests and if we haven’t achieved the goals we set for ourselves this term, we can try again for next term!
It was great to see all of you participating in some of the events at the Athletics Carnival last Friday. As your leader of wellbeing, it was very pleasing to see the level of talent and athleticism we have in our year group. I was able to see some of you compete in the high jump, long jump and 100m sprints and I was very impressed with how you performed. I would like to thank all of you for your behaviour and participation during this event.
UNIFORM EXPECTATIONS
As always, a reminder of uniform expectations. If you need a reminder of what the uniform expectations are, look in your Learning Planner on pages 15A and 16A.
I wish to remind everyone again that the following needs to be done at all times or a red card will be issued:
- Blazers should be worn into Learning Group until their Learning Advisor sees them
- Blazers should be worn after period 6 and when leaving the College
- Non-St Andrews items such as beanies and hoodies SHOULD NOT be worn to school.
- If a student cannot wear their sports uniform, they are required to wear their normal school uniform
- School jumpers cannot be worn over sports uniforms. A school sports jacket is required.
- Boys must have their facial hair shaved
I understand with the weather getting a lot colder students may want to keep extra warm. However, you need to comply with the school policy and not bring any hoodies or beanies. A black or navy scarf and gloves can be worn.
YEAR 9 REFLECTION DAY
On Friday 17th of June, year 9 attended their Reflection Day. More information about this day to come.
STUDENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Last week Julio and Dominic Tatupu competed in the Oceania Games which was held in Mackay, QLD. These boys represented the NSW Club for this event. Julio and Dominic both competed in the U13’s Hammer Throw, Shot Put and Discus. Their results for the Game are:
Julio:
Hammer Throw: Unfortunately no result recorded due to foul
Shot Put: Placed 6th with a 14m throw
Discus: Placed in the top 8 with a 41m throw
Dominic:
Hammer Throw: Placed 2nd with a 49.5m throw
Discus: 33m throw
Shot Put: Placed 2nd with a 15m throw. This now places him 1st in Shot Put Ratings for his age group.
We should be very proud of these two for excelling in their sport and we hope that they continue to train and improve from this and be ready for the next Athletics season.
Well done Julio and Dominic.
I will always be proud of any student in year 9 who achieve great things outside of St Andrews College. If you are involved in any sport or activity outside of school, please let me know as I would like to follow that journey of yours.
