Newsletter 9 2022
Dear Members of the St Andrews College Community,
Congratulations again goes to the staff and students for all the learning opportunities that are happening at the College at present. It is a testament to your dedication and enthusiasm that all of this is happening at the College. Our Assemblies demonstrate all that is good about our College. I witnessed today one of our Year 7 student (Amelie Lu) performed an amazing piece on the piano. What a talent. I also spoke about the Heliotropic Effect that we can have on each other. It’s a challenge for all of us to live up to being born in the Image and Likeness of God. Well done.
‘It’s All About Learning’
Gospel Reflection - Luke 9:11-17:
In the gospel reading, Jesus taught the people about the kingdom of God. Then he cured the sick. After that, he fed them and they were all satisfied. Indeed, in Jesus we find wisdom, healing and satisfaction.
In looking again at the Gospel. The day is about to end. The disciples were about to worry about food and shelter and suggested to Jesus to dismiss the crowd. Yet Jesus is undisturbed. He took the situation as an opportunity to make a miracle and show them that He is in control. So He told them to give them food. However, they only have five loaves and two fish. They wonder how they can feed five thousand men plus women and most probably children.
Jesus is our God of multiplication. Whatever little resources we have, let us offer to Him and ask Him to bless it. After all, all resources, wealth, or treasure come from Him. He knows how to make them available for our needs. He will not allow us to go hungry.
There is an important lesson that we need to learn from this multiplication of bread episode. Let us never underestimate the generosity and power of God. His power can make the impossible possible and His provision is more than enough.
Today, we reflect on how good Jesus is as He gives His very own flesh and blood to become food for our souls. The very act of giving Himself to enter our body and become part of our whole being shows how much He loves us. May we be able to understand and show our profound appreciation of this great mystery of the Eucharist.
Safe Parishes Launch and Lunch:
Congratulations to the Year 12 Hospitality students who catered for the Safe Parishes Lunch in the St Andrews Parish Hall last week. The level of catering as well as interaction with the Bishop and guests was exceptional. Many people commented on the ability of our students to engage, their manners, and their service. Thank you to Mrs Carlos and Mrs Van Der Werf for all of their assistance and preparation of our wonderful students.
Well done Bianca and Romeo:
Congratulations Bianca. She secured a spot in the Open's NSWCCC Team, and competed last Friday in the NSW All Schools Quad Series Tournament. In addition to this she also secured a spot in NSW State Team Squads for the Divisions of Youth U/17 and Junior U/19, in which she will compete in the National Championships occurring in July.
She was also invited to join the Australian National Junior Development Squad, in which she will train amongst the best junior volleyball players in the nation. By joining this squad she is in contention to play for Australia for international events and tournaments.
Congratulations to Romeo Andre III Atengco who also represented NSWCCC in the NSW All Schools Quad Series Tournament. I'd just like to inform you of what occurred on Friday.
Congratulations to Julio and Dominic Tatupu:
Both Julio and Dominic represented NSW at the National Championships in Queensland last week. Congratulations on the following performances.
Julio:
Shot Put: Placed 6th with a 14m throw
Discus: Placed in the top 8 with a 41m throw
Dominic:
Hammer Throw: Placed 2nd with a 49.5m throw
Discus: 33m throw
Shot Put: Placed 2nd with a 15m throw. This now places him 1st in Shot Put Ratings for his age group in Australia.
Year 11 2023 Information Evening:
Thank you to all the parents and students who attended the evening last Wednesday. The attendance was excellent which demonstrates the commitment to learning that I see in the Year 10 2022 group as well as the Year 9 Accelerated Students. Thank you to Ms Kalifa, the Leaders of Learning and teaching staff who attended the evening to inform our students of their subject choices in the best way possible. There were many senior students who also assisted on the night. Thank you.
CSDA Debating Progress:
The Debating season has concluded the Preliminary Rounds now and we have had the following teams in Elimination Finals on Wednesday evening and tonight.
7A v Eastwood, 9A v OLMC, 9B v Santa Sabina College, 11B v St Mary’s Cathedral, and our Senior Opens A team v Catherine McCauley. This makes us the most represented school in the Diocese in the finals and continues our fine tradition in Debating and Public Speaking. It is a great effort from Mrs Parker, staff, student debaters, and helpers from staff and the student body.
Athletics Carnival:
The Athletics Carnival was a great success and I thank Mrs Brogan for her organisation as well as staff for their supervision and participation. Further details will be contained in the Sports Reports as well as the winning House.
Toilet Renovations Senior Campus:
They are well underway with both toilet blocks due for completion before the Higher School Certificate commences. I have shown the Senior Student Leaders the proposed layout and we have made some minor additions based on their feedback. We are hoping for the first block to be finished next week.
Enrolment for Year 11 2023 NOW OPEN

Unity Day- We are one, but we are many
We are looking forward to our Annual Unity Day celebrations next Friday. Unity Day is a great chance for the students to celebrate the different cultures at the College.
The day will start with a traditional Smoking Ceremony then a small liturgy in different languages. We have a guest speaker to talk about his story and then a national dress competition. We will be having Cultural Activities, then students from different cultures will be sharing their songs and dance with the College.
This should be a great day for the College.
Year 7-10 Student Learning Conferences
The Student Learning Conference for the Semester 1 Year 7-10 courses will be held on Wednesday 22nd June and Tuesday 28th June. The event will commence at 3.00pm and conclude at 7.45pm and will be held in the Junior Campus Hall. Families can book either night.
These interviews are compulsory and are an integral part of the learning process. Students are expected to attend with their parents. It is an opportunity to evaluate their work so far and provide feedback about their progress.
Interviews are strictly 5 minutes in length and spaces are limited. We ask that each parent keep to the assigned times to ensure that there are no lengthy waiting periods. If you require more time than the 5 allocated minutes, please contact the class teacher to arrange an interview at an alternate time.
The College has implemented an online booking system via the Compass App for your convenience; all bookings must be made through this system. The instructions about booking were sent to families via the compass email and notification system.
Last days of term 2
Students will start their term holiday at 2.45 Thursday the 30th June.
Friday the 1st July is Staff Professional Learning and students are not required on that day.
Term 3 starts Monday 18th July and students are in full Winter Uniform.
Student’s safety while travelling to and from school.
It is important that all students are safe while they travel to and from school. We have had cases of students running across Quakers road, students riding to school without helmets and other behaviour that puts them at risk.
Could all students and parents be mindful of their safety as they come to and from school.
It would help if students
- use all road rules correctly and are mindful of traffic on the way home.
- Wear appropriate safety devises while riding a bike.
- Sit while travelling on public transport
- Travel straight to school and straight home at the end of the day.
Parents if you drop off and pick up your child please follow some basic safety rules.
- DO NOT enter the College grounds to pick up or drop off students unless you have made arrangements with the College.
- Use Quakers Rd or Berella Cr for the Junior campus or Breakfast Rd for the Senior campus.
- Do not speed around the school zones as children are unpredictable and may not look for you in traffic.
If you have any concerns about students and travel please contact me during College hours.
What’s in the Planner?
The main focus this week is Love of Learning. Thanks to all the students who have participated in activities this week to celebrate a Love of Learning.
Keep your brain agile by doing a crossword, a sudoku, playing chess, a game of logic.
When working in groups the team needs to take on different roles. These roles include
Organiser- creates the framework so all are involved
Starter- gets things started
Recorder- collects relevant information
Verifier- Checks for accuracy
Listener- thinks about the learning happening
Timer- keeps everyone on track
Coordinator- ties everything together
Finisher- presents the task in a stylish fashion
Energiser- encourages everyone to push on
Critic- provides honest feedback on the learning process
The different roles should be allocated by persons’ strengths. Together the combined strengths create a strong team capable of great learning.
Time targets
Setting time targets to complete tasks is a way to elevate stress and help develop your academic abilities.
To develop good habits with time targets we use the Five “E’s” of learning- Engage, explore, explain, elaborate and evaluate.
Engage- record dates, brainstorm ideas about the task, get assessment criteria. Plan your task
Explore- locates resources, collect information, begin research
Explain- develops sentences then paragraphs. Develop your draft and ask teacher to look at it
Elaborate- analyse the comments from your draft, improve phrasing and vocabulary. Discuss interpretation with family or friends
Evaluate- assess feedback and complete final task
God Bless

Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Online Survey - Closes soon
This survey will provide us with valuable insights into what our school community thinks about school life including how engaged students are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. Schools in Australia and around the world use the Tell Them From Me survey to help them improve.
Parents and carers are invited to participate using this LINK
The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It would be greatly appreciated if you could please complete this survey by Friday 24 June.
Important Data for Every Learner
I wanted to take this opportunity to show you a snapshot of the data we have for every learner at St Andrews College. All teaching staff have access to this site which assists us in planning for a diverse learning community.
Staff Development Day: Friday 1 July
On Friday 1 July teaching staff will be working together with a focus on Literacy and Differentiation. We all know the benefits of a literate learner, and when we couple literacy with differentiation (tailoring instruction to meet individual needs) it creates a learning environment with the promise of greater student success.
Objectives for the day:
- Collective and collaborative action and discussion about pedagogy that enables all students to succeed, including those who struggle with literacy and promote literacy as a general capability across the curriculum.
- Develop practical plans to build and extend student literacy within each KLA focused on content area literacy as well as disciplinary literacy.
- Develop differentiated literacy strategies in reading and writing that cater to the needs of diverse, accelerated and extension learners.
A Reminder …
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to contact me by email at pfinnerty@parra.catholic.edu.au if you have any questions regarding the information above which relates to my specific role as Assistant Principal – Systems, Data, and Professional Learning.
Thank you for your continued support

Formative Assessment
I am sure that parents have begun to hear the words formative assessment being mentioned by their children more and more throughout this term. Along with this, I am sure that as soon as we hear the word ‘assessment’ we immediately presume that it is ‘extra’ work teachers give students, on top of an already full homework load.
NESA defines formative assessment in the following way:
A type of student assessment that occurs during the learning process. Formative assessment aims to give teachers feedback about student progress so that instructional approaches, teaching materials, and academic support can be modified accordingly and feedback can be given to the student.
This means that formative assessment is your child’s everyday classwork. It’s a check-in point about how well your child is meeting the outcomes of their course and it allows the teacher insight into ways to support your child’s learning growth. In the College’s ‘Everything Counts’ model of learning, formative assessment is used to assist the teacher ensure that your child is receiving the correct grade at the end of each Semester, whilst providing feedback on how they can improve.
St Andrews College also provides feedback to parents via Compass twice a term on how your child is progressing in their learning before they work on their final assessment task. Formative feedback is shared with parents and students through the Steps in Learning. Students may also receive other verbal observation, marks, grades and/or written comments on Google Classroom about their classwork. This gives students an opportunity to know what they need to do in order to improve their work and continue to grow in their learning.
As you read through your Child’s Semester 1 report this weekend, please have a discussion with your child about all the work they have completed that contributed to the grades received on their report. I encourage you to have Google Classroom open and ask your child to showcase some of the best work they have completed for their teachers. Please be assured that by focusing on the whole picture of your child’s learning, not just an assessment at the end of their learning, we work towards more meaningful discussions about learning as a community.

Love of Learning Week
Love of Learning Week was held this week - once again congratulations to our Student Leaders for their excellent work. There will be an article by the students on Love of Learning Week in the next Newsletter.
Principal’s Awards
It’s wonderful to see many Principal’s Awards being presented by Dr Kennaugh at the Assemblies on both the Junior and Senior Campus. It takes a lot of effort to receive a Principal’s Award - 125 Merits in fact - and not every student will receive a Principal’s Award during their time at St Andrews. It is also wonderful to see students receiving their second Principal’s Award - that is 250 Merits! Students who receive a second Principal’s Award receive a special pin that the students can wear on their blazer. At this stage we have one student who has received 3 Principal’s Awards - Jav Calingao in Year 11. Can anyone match him? Keep up the great effort!

STAR STUDENT AWARD
On the senior campus this term a new award was introduced to the student body during assembly. This award is being established with the purpose of celebrating individual academic achievement as well as recognising students who model superior character and citizenship. This award recognises students who are consistently working hard in all that they do and consistently trying their best.
Teachers on the Senior Campus have been sending in nominations for the STAR award based on the following criteria:
SET A GOOD EXAMPLE
TAKE THE INITIATIVE
ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST
RESPECT EVERYONE
The students are awarded the STAR award once they have received nominations from multiple teachers who have noticed their consistent diligence and the way they model positive behaviour to others.
Congratulations to the following students who have received the STAR award so far this term:
Denzell Williams (Year 12)
Denzell is awarded the STAR award for being a diligent and respectful student who always works hard and tries his best. He consistently asks for help, submits practice responses and applies feedback to his work. He sets a good example for his peers and always volunteers to help where he can. He upholds College values and is a great role model for others.
Sophia Guilas (Year 11)
Sophia receives the STAR award as she is a diligent and respectful student who is organised and wears her uniform correctly at all times. She is a quiet achiever who always aims to do her best. She is a hard worker who is willing to accept feedback and works efficiently. Sophia is a role model to her peers and is a very positive and responsible student.
Mitchell Stirton (Year 12)
Mitchell receives the STAR award for his improvement and dedication in his courses. Mitchell has demonstrated leadership, teamwork and collaboration in lessons. He has shown great maturity as he continually asks for feedback on his progress in his classwork and practical skill. Mitchell is commended for demonstrating creativity and analytical thinking in class discussions and sharing with his peers.
Jav Calingao (Year 11)
Jav is awarded the STAR award for always setting a good example by being the first student to arrive in class, and completing his work every lesson to a high standard. He takes initiative and helps others when they are struggling. Jav seeks to improve his learning and always does his best. He shows respect and upholds the values and the
motto of the College in his behaviour and attitude
Well done to these students, their award and recognition is very well deserved.
We look forward to announcing more STAR awards in the upcoming weeks. Remember, everything matters and your hard work and dedication will always pay off and help you achieve success and your goals.

TWO MORE WEEKS TO GO!!
With two more weeks to go in Term 2, we should review our goals and see if we have achieved them or close to achieving them. It is important that we continue to strive for our personal bests and if we haven’t achieved the goals we set for ourselves this term, we can try again for next term!
It was great to see all of you participating in some of the events at the Athletics Carnival last Friday. As your leader of wellbeing, it was very pleasing to see the level of talent and athleticism we have in our year group. I was able to see some of you compete in the high jump, long jump and 100m sprints and I was very impressed with how you performed. I would like to thank all of you for your behaviour and participation during this event.
UNIFORM EXPECTATIONS
As always, a reminder of uniform expectations. If you need a reminder of what the uniform expectations are, look in your Learning Planner on pages 15A and 16A.
I wish to remind everyone again that the following needs to be done at all times or a red card will be issued:
- Blazers should be worn into Learning Group until their Learning Advisor sees them
- Blazers should be worn after period 6 and when leaving the College
- Non-St Andrews items such as beanies and hoodies SHOULD NOT be worn to school.
- If a student cannot wear their sports uniform, they are required to wear their normal school uniform
- School jumpers cannot be worn over sports uniforms. A school sports jacket is required.
- Boys must have their facial hair shaved
I understand with the weather getting a lot colder students may want to keep extra warm. However, you need to comply with the school policy and not bring any hoodies or beanies. A black or navy scarf and gloves can be worn.
YEAR 9 REFLECTION DAY
On Friday 17th of June, year 9 attended their Reflection Day. More information about this day to come.
STUDENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Last week Julio and Dominic Tatupu competed in the Oceania Games which was held in Mackay, QLD. These boys represented the NSW Club for this event. Julio and Dominic both competed in the U13’s Hammer Throw, Shot Put and Discus. Their results for the Game are:
Julio:
Hammer Throw: Unfortunately no result recorded due to foul
Shot Put: Placed 6th with a 14m throw
Discus: Placed in the top 8 with a 41m throw
Dominic:
Hammer Throw: Placed 2nd with a 49.5m throw
Discus: 33m throw
Shot Put: Placed 2nd with a 15m throw. This now places him 1st in Shot Put Ratings for his age group.
We should be very proud of these two for excelling in their sport and we hope that they continue to train and improve from this and be ready for the next Athletics season.
Well done Julio and Dominic.
I will always be proud of any student in year 9 who achieve great things outside of St Andrews College. If you are involved in any sport or activity outside of school, please let me know as I would like to follow that journey of yours.

From Director of Faith, Mission & Learning
On Wednesday Mr Hoare and Mr Clarke visited the Jesuit Refugee Service distiribution site, to deliver the items donated by our generous St Andrew’s staff and students during the food drive. This was a magnificent effort, which was an initiative of the year 10 students who participated in the Faith in Action day, as a response to the needs of refugees who have arrived in Australia.
Michael Melville of JRS gratefully accepted our donation and passed on his thanks and those of the JRS to the St Andrew’s community.
In Religious education this term, year 8 has been studying the Corporal Works of Mercy within the unit Easter Experiences. Miss Tan’s class completed an inquiry task where they were required to research examples of people who demonstrate a life of service faithful to the gospel, reaching out to others by living out the Corporal works of mercy.
Congratulations to year 8 and Miss Tan on your excellent examples of learning in RE.

SACART WEEK 6
Why do we learn about Visual Arts?
‘What’s the point of art’ or ‘Why do we learn about art?’ - these are questions students may have thought about or asked. These are valid questions and the answers to these may not be so obvious at first but rather, the lessons learnt from Visual Arts are often through the artmaking experience itself and not just through the unit content at hand.
Have you ever…
- Had to problem solve or make careful decisions?
- Had to consider other people’s feedback on something you’ve created or need a second opinion because you may not be sure of your own?
- Had to produce something within a given time frame?
- Needed to draw up a draft before creating a final product?
- Had to learn to trust your own abilities and talents?
- Had to use a range of sources of inspiration?
If you can do all of these things, maybe art has a little something to do with it! Critical thinking, creativity, the ability to receive and give feedback, expressing our own ideas, observation, time management and reflection are all a part of the human experience and are important skills for us to lead our lives.
Not only does art allow us to appreciate the variety of art and talents that are out there in the world, but to recognise that others may see things differently to the way we do. Artists use aspects of the world around them as sources of inspiration as well as personal experiences. For one person, art may be a way to relieve stress whilst for another, it could be for personal enjoyment. Learning about art can help us learn about the rich history of the world, culture and the lives of others in addition to our own.
Indeed, art is subjective - so what does art mean to you?
Year 7: Art Techniques & Representing Different Points of View
Miss Rivera’s Year 7 classes have been learning about different artmaking techniques, focusing on two different types of media - watercolours and oil pastels. Students have built upon their knowledge from primary school of each media and are now more knowledgeable and confident with using these materials to produce fabulous artworks. Watercolour techniques included: Dry Brush, Flat wash, Graded wash, Wet on Wet, Layering and Feathering alongside this, oil pastel techniques included: Heavy Pressure Blending, Light Pressure Blending, Colour mixing/blending, Stippling, Scumbling and Sgraffito.
Students have begun looking at how to represent different points of view with particular focus upon Giuseppe Arcimbolo and his representations of the world through his works. Students have been creating their own interpretations of his art through their own representations of fruit and vegetables. Students observed the various ways these food products; top view, side view, bottom view and sliced open. Stay tuned for their upcoming artworks

Year 8: A Wrap Up on Cubism & Delving into the Surrealist Experience
Miss Rivera’s Year 8 classes have wrapped up the Cubism topic - a big congratulations to all the students for their hard work and dedication to producing such incredible works of art. Here are some of the fantastic artworks created by such talented students - Well Done!
Over the past week, students have been launched into the world of ‘Surrealism’. Students explored the meanings of dreams and the creative potential of the unconscious mind. Students investigated the works of Salvador Dali and Stefan Zsaitsits. Did you know that Dali collaborated with Walt Disney? They created a short film titled ‘Destino’ (2003). Many have described this mini movie as ‘weird’, ‘strange’ and an ‘illusion’. Check it out on YouTube! Students had to create their own Surrealist Fantasy Creature as part of their artmaking and many students have produced some interesting hybrids which merged the body parts of 3 animals, giving their creature an English and Latin name, characteristics and habitat.

Athletics Carnival
What a day! The sun was shining, enthusiasm was high and house spirit was alive! Students participated in long jump, high jump, shot put and the 100 and 200m sprint, as well as some novelty events including basketball, volleyball, tunnel ball, bucket ball and tug of war.

There were 3 records broken on the day:
- Andre Dera of year 12- ran the 100m in 11.02secs, beating the previous record of 11.09
- Hailey Targarona of year 12 set a new High Jump record of 1.50m compared to a previous College record of 1.48m
- Deng Joseph of year 11 also set a new High Jump record of 1.87m, smashing the previous College record of 1.80m.
The atmosphere in our College hall was electric watching these two talented young people persist in their attempts to better themselves and beat the College records.
Well done to these students on this achievement!
Congratulations also to both the female staff and male staff relay teams who beat the year 12 student teams! The students were just no match for us!
Frances took out the top spot for war-cries, followed by Bennelong, Chang and then Gould.
Chang had the best overall participation, followed by Bennelong, Gould and then Frances.
The total competitive points were super close, with Frances and Gould tied, followed by Chang and Bennelong with only 64 points difference!
The final results of the day were as follows:
4th place on 1723 points was GOULD
3rd place on 1736 points was BENNELONG (only 13 points between 3rd and 4th)
2nd place on 1764 points was FRANCES (only 28 points between 2nd and 3rd)
1st place on 1863 points and the WINNERS of our 2022 College Athletics Carnival was CHANG! Congratulations to all the students in Chang. What a close carnival, with only 140 points between 1st and 4th and 99 points between 1st and 2nd place! Participation and involvement really counts here!
We had 41 students successfully qualify for our PDSSSC Athletics Carnival which will be held on 26th of August. Further details about this will be distributed via a Compass event in Term 3. Please use the holidays to train hard to prepare!
A final reminder to any student who would like to nominate a distance for the PDSSSC Carnival in Javelin, 1500m, Triple jump, Discus, 400m and/or 800m; please email me kbrogan@parra.catholic.edu.au as these events were not run at our College carnival. These event distances/times must be competitive and verified by a student’s local Athletics club.
I have extended the nomination deadline to Tuesday 21st June.
Student sporting successes
Jake Parkes of year 12 recently competed in the NSWCCC Cross Country. Jake finished 24th out of 28 runners with a time of 34 mins; an impressive result at this competitive level!
Congratulations, Jake!
Amelia Manks of year 8 was successful in gaining a position in the NSWCCC Softball team. Amelia will be playing in the NSWCCC Softball team at the All Schools Tournament held at Softball NSW, Blacktown International Sportspark on Monday 25th July. Congratulations Amelia! We are very proud of your successes!
Brooke Robinson of year 10 recently competed at the Level 9 Australian National Championships. Brooke competed in the Day 1 team competition as a part of the NSW team which placed 2nd overall. Brooke qualified for the Day 2 Individual competition where she placed 1st on vault in the Junior division.
Congratulations, Brooke. You should be so proud of yourself to achieve this success at this level!
You may recall reading that last term, Romeo Atengco of year 10 and Bianca Infante of year 11 were both selected to represent NSW at the Combined Catholic Colleges Volleyball tournament. This occurred last Friday 10th June. Romeo and his team competed against CIS(Combined Independent Schools), CHS(Combined High Schools) and All schools Combined. Romeo’s team had won against All schools which was the first time that this had been achieved in 10 years which is a huge achievement! His team then sadly lost to CIS 0-3 and CHS 2-1 with CHS winning the whole tournament. Romeo shared what a great experience he had and what an honour it was to represent our College and himself at such a level.
Bianca’s team finished in 2nd place, losing to CHS in a close final. Again, a huge congratulations to you, Bianca! Your dedication and love of Volleyball is evident. The St Andrews community is very proud of you both.
Here are some photos from the day of both Bianca and Romeo with their teams.

Kayla Brogan
Leader of Learning Sport
On Friday 3rd June, seven students from St Andrews College competed at the NSW All Schools Diving competition at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, Olympic Park. To get to this level, they all had to place 1st, 2nd or 3rd at the NSW CCC championships earlier in the year.
The day started with the older age groups. In the 16yrs girls springboard event, St Andrews had two students competing. Holly McLoughlin placed 7th in her first All Schools event while Marley Kozak placed 5th, improving two places from last year. Each girl performed eight dives which in itself is no mean feat.
Our next diver to compete was Gabriel Narayan. In his first year of diving, Gabriel has shown a lot of promise. He worked hard to gain new dives for this competition and managed to place 4th, only 10 points behind 3rd. Gabriel is now the first reserve in his age group for the next level, School Sport Australia.
The youngest divers had the longest wait, competing in the 12 and 13 yrs age groups. All these divers have only been in the sport for 5 months and dived well beyond their experience. In the 13 yr girls springboard, Ruby Scicluna placed 8th. In the 12 yr girls, Chelise Fernandez finished 5th with Emily Riddout a close 6th behind her. On Wednesday the 8th of June, Dr Kennaugh, Year 10 students, teachers, and visitors gathered together to discuss their Year 11 Subject Selections for 2023. After a group discussion in the Hall, students were led to different classrooms where they were informed about the variety of subjects that they can choose from for Years 11 and 12. Many students were amazed by the topics that they would get to learn through these subjects, and not only was the information helpful, but the teachers and senior students were eager to help the Year 10's with any questions or concerns they had. Overall, the night was a fun experience for all Year 10 students as they prepare for the upcoming years ahead.
